TN: CPI-M won't withdraw support to DMK govt
CPI top ranks in Chennai dismissed these reports as baseless.

Chennai: Communist Party of India (CPI), Tamil Nadu unit secretary D Pandian on Thursday denied having said that the party would withdraw its support to the DMK government in the state as a fall out of Left parties withdrawing support to the Congress-led UPA Government at the Centre on the Indo-US nuclear deal.

Pandian, in a statement here dismissed as totally 'false and baseless,' reports appearing in a section of the media that the CPI would withdraw its support to the DMK government. The party's central administrative committee would discuss the issue.

He said while talking to newspersons in Tiruchirapalli on Wednesday that he had not expressed any view about elections or alliance and a section of the media had misquoted him for sensationalisation.

The Central Administrative Committee is meeting on July 12 and 13 only to discuss the India's Uranium pact with US and the political fall out, he added.

Making it clear that the Central Administrative Committee meeting has not been convened to discuss the alliance issue, Pandian said "sensational reports" appearing in media need not be taken as party's stand.

Only the resolution published in party mouthpiece Janasakthi should be taken as party's official stand, he said and appealed to party cadres not to air views on alliance or election.
