Fatehpur: Ajeya Singh, the elder son of former prime minister VP Singh, on Friday expressed hope that he will get an Lok Jan Shakti Party (LJSP) ticket to contest from Fatehpur, despite the party's electoral agreements with Samajwadi Party.
Addressing the media in Fatehpur, Singh denied the recent statements of Samajwadi Party General Secretary Amar Singh that he (Ajeya Singh) who was declared the LJP's candidate from Fatehpur will not be contesting polls and said, "My decision to contest Lok Sabha polls from Fatehpur remains unchanged."
On Thursday, the Samajwadi Party, LJSP and the Rashtriya Janta Dal decided that LJSP and RJD will not be fielding any candidates in Uttar Pradesh.
Singh said, "Through politics, I plan to serve the people and for this I will contest the Lok Sabha elections from Fatehpur at any cost."
The party will decide on his candidature on its meeting on March 30, he added.
