Bhopal: A key whistleblower in the Vyapam scam Dr Anand Rai has been transferred from Indore to Dhar. His wife has also been shunted to Ujjain.
"I am being targeted, several big names involved in the scam. My wife has also been targeted, this is a witch hunt against me. I will challenge my transfer order legally," Rai said over his transfer order.
The probe into the Vyapam scam began in 2013 based on a report lodged by Anand Rai. He had come to know about the fraud when he had himself taken an exam conducted by the Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination Board in 2005.
He kept digging for evidence and after filing repeated complaints and finally moved court in 2013.
Rai had claimed that his family has been receiving threats and has demanded a probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation. Nearly 50 people have died in the case so far and at least 10 of them under mysterious circumstances.
"There is a particular pattern that can be seen in all of the Vyapam deaths and this is giving rise to suspicions. Out of all 45 deaths, at least ten of them are suspicious. Akshay Singh's death is also suspicious," Rai said.
"In 2013, one Jagdish Sagareka called me and warned me that because of me excessive media coverage is happening and he also threatened to kill me. He called me again after four minutes and told me not to give the incoming call number to anybody. I gave the number to police and that is how he got arrested. Later Deepak Yadav also laid conspiracies to kill me. I have got several threats like this," Rai claimed.
