Kolkata: In the first major reshuffle after taking over, the Mamata Banerjee government on Monday effected some changes in police and civil administration.
Additional Director (Security), A K Maliwal was given the newly-created post of Additional Director (Provision).
Senior IPS officer Virendra will replace Maliwal as Additional Director (Security), Secretariat officials said.
Additional DGP (Welfare) Sivaji Ghosh will take over as Special Commissioner (I) of Kolkata Police, while IGP CID (II) Somen Mitra will take over as Additional Commissioner (I) of Kolkata Police, they said.
Rajiv Kumar, who was Additional Commissioner (II) of Kolkata Police, has been named as Additional Commissioner (III) while Debashish Roy, who was Additional Commissioner (III) will take over as Additional Commissioner (IV).
Former Principal Secretary in the Chief Minister's secretariat Suves Das, who was sent on compulsory waiting after the Mamata Banerjee government took over, will now be the Principal Secretary in the department of Science and Technology.
Principal Secretary in the Transport department R P S Kahlon, has been transferred as the Principal Secretary of the Environment department, while Principal Secretary of the department of Minorities Affairs and Madrasa Education B P Gopalika will now be the Principal Secretary in the Transport
department, they said.
