New Delhi: The Reddys are reportedly the most prominent community in Andhra Pradesh and YSR Congress Chief Jagan Mohan Reddy, their most popular leader. Sources say that his party is likely to fare well in the upcoming by-polls. The party is reportedly strong in the Rayalaseema region of coastal Andhra Pradesh.
The Reddys have been traditional supporters of the Congress. However, after Jagan formed his own party, they backed him.
However, Jagan was arrested by the CBI on Sunday evening in the disproportionate assets case and many feel that the action against him is a Congress ploy to scare away his supporters.
Jagan himself claimed that a conspiracy was being hatched by the Congress government in collusion with the opposition TDP and the CBI to arrest him.
In a letter to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh two days ago, the young leader also claimed that a conspiracy was also conceived to trigger riots after his arrest and throw the blame on him.
"Important thing is that they want me to be arrested. They are creating a law and order situation against me because it is very clear that the Congress is going out," Jagan said while speaking to CNN-IBN Editor-in-Chief Rajdeep Sardesai. He accused the Congress of targeting him in order to postpone the upcoming by-polls.
