Yechury rules out alliance with Congress, says only issue based understanding
He however said that the CPI-M will continue to have issue-based political understandings with the Congress in the Parliament.

Kolkata: The CPI-M general secretary Sitaram Yechury has said that the party will not go against decision made at its party Congress of not forming alliance or front with the Congress.

He however said that the CPI-M will continue to have issue-based political understandings with the Congress in the Parliament.

Party's Central Committee member and West Bengal leader Goutam Deb whose comments last week about the Left not in a position to combat Mamata Banerjee alone and hinted at an alliance with Congress on Monday submitted a written explanation of what he said to the party's West Bengal state committee. Yechury, who is attending the two-day state committee meeting at the party's headquarters at Alimuddin Street in Kolkata, said he was satisfied that Deb made no direct reference about the Congress and had hence not gone against the resolution of the party congress.
