Anurag Kashyap’s love for Tamil cinema knows no bounds. So much so that he is apparently set to mark his directorial debut in the Tamil film industry. As per the latest reports, the Gangs of Wasseypur director will be collaborating with Tamil actor and musician GV Prakash for a movie. Anurag Kashyap has previously forayed into the Tamil industry and marked his debut as an actor in the 2018 movie, Imaikkaa Nodigal starring Nayanthara, Vijay Sethuprathi and Atharvaa. He has also had a cameo role in Thalapathy Vijay’s Leo. Now, he is gearing up for his maiden directorial movie in the Tamil industry, with none other than GV Prakash.
Reportedly, the movie will be bilingual, which will be primarily shot in the Hindi language and will be dubbed in Telugu, Tamil and other languages. This collaboration has piqued the interest of cinephiles. As per reports, the shoot of the movie is expected to commence in May. It is being touted as a high-budget entertainer that will keep the audience glued to the screen. This collaboration will also mark GV Prakash’s debut in Bollywood.
Anurag Kashyap is a huge fan of Tamil movies and often drops his reviews about the recently-released South movies. In his blockbuster movie, Gangs of Wasseypur, he has credited actor-director Sasikumar’s Subramaniyapuram in the credits. On the work front, his last few movies tanked at the box office. His recent movies were Dobaaraa with Taapsee Pannu, Almost Pyaar with DJ Mohabbat and another movie titled Kennedy.
GV Prakash has Rebel in the pipeline, which is expected to hit the theatres on March 22. It is written and directed by Nikesh and also stars Mamitha Baiju opposite GV Prakash. He is also awaiting the release of Chiyaan Vikram and Pa Ranjith’s Thangalaan. He also has movies like Emergency, Lucky Baskhar, Amaran, Nilavuku En Mel Ennadi Kobam, and Surya 43. Idimuzhakkam, 13, Kalvan and Dear are also in the kitty.
The upcoming movie will not be the first time that the duo will be collaborating. Previously, Anurag Kashyap roped in GV Prakash for the background score to his cult movie Gangs of Wasseypur starring Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Manoj Bajpayee, Huma Qureshi, Richa Chadha, Pankaj Tripathi and many others. The bilingual movie will be the first collaboration between the two as an actor and director.
