The latest Tamil horror film Guardian, featuring Hansika Motwani in the lead role, was released on March 8 on International Women’s Day. The movie also stars Sureshmenan, Sreeman and Mottai Rajendran alongside Hansika. The story, screenplay, and dialogues were penned by Guru Saravanan, with music by Sam CS.

Due to positive reviews, Guardian managed to collect Rs 80 lakh in Tamil Nadu on the first day alone. Additionally, it continued to attract substantial audiences and generate good collections on Saturdays and Sundays as well.

Directed by Guru Saravanan and Sabari, the horror flick sees Hansika portraying the role of a ghost. This marks their second collaboration as co-directors, following their first film, Google Guttappa. The technical crew of Guardian boasts talents KA Sakthivel for cinematography, M. Thiyagarajan for editing, Lalgudi N. Ilayaraja for art direction, Don Ashok for action sequences and Viji Satish, Azhar, Dastha and Srikrish for choreography. The lyrics are penned by Viveka, Sam CS and Umadevi, while Nxgen Media handles the VFX.

In the story, Hansika has always felt unlucky since her childhood. However, her fortunes take a drastic turn when her wishes start coming true suddenly, thanks to the power of a possessed crystal. The crystal harbours the spirit of an angry ghost seeking revenge on those who have wronged it. The story revolves around how Hansika navigates this newfound power and deals with the situation at hand.

Although Guardian follows a familiar trope of a vengeful ghost, the makers had the opportunity to craft a compelling narrative through focused storytelling or by maximising the thrills inherent in the horror genre.

In terms of her work, Hansika Motwani was recently seen in the Telugu movie 105 Minutes. Additionally, she has several upcoming projects lined up, such as Rowdy Baby, Gandhari, Man and the Telugu web series Nasha, all at various stages of production. Hansika Motwani made her debut in the South Indian film industry with the Telugu movie Desamuduru. This paved the way for her career in the South and she quickly began receiving offers from other industries such as Kannada, Tamil and Malayalam.
