Netflix has secured the digital rights for Indian 2, the much-awaited Kamal Haasan-starrer. According to Netflix’s Pandigai announcements, the film directed by S Shankar will be part of its streaming lineup after its theatrical release, accessible in Tamil, Malayalam, Telugu, Kannada, and Hindi.
Kamal Haasan’s Indian 2 stands out as one of the most awaited sequels this year. Reviving the iconic character Senapathy, Haasan takes on corruption in the present era. The recently released intro video, featuring Haasan reprising his beloved Senapathy from the 1996 blockbuster Indian, has fans eagerly anticipating the return of their favourite character to the big screen.
The substitution of AR Rahman with Anirudh Ravichander as the composer in the sequel disappointed several viewers. The distinct background music in the intro received criticism, with audiences expressing dissatisfaction. Anirudh’s ‘Come Back Indian’ theme faced comparisons with AR Rahman’s music from the original, leading to some labelling it as an ‘average music score.’ Notably, Anirudh also contributed his vocals to the background score, adding an interesting element to the soundtrack.
The forthcoming action film features a star-studded cast, including Siddharth, SJ Suryah, Kajal Aggarwal, Rakul Preet Singh, Priya Bhavani Shankar, Kalidas Jayaram, Gulshan Grover, Nedumudi Venu, Vivek, Samuthirakani, Bobby Simha, Guru Somasundaram, Delhi Ganesh, Jayaprakash, Manobala, Vennela Kishore, Deepa Shankar, and more.
Tamil actor Siddharth, riding on the success of his recent film Chithha, is set to share the screen with the legendary Kamal Haasan in Indian 2. Expressing his admiration for Haasan and director S Shankar, Siddharth emphasized that the opportunity to work with these stalwarts was the primary reason for his involvement in the project. While remaining tight-lipped about his role, Siddharth considers the film a blessing and expresses happiness about the experience.
