Actress Meena, known for her screen presence and notable performances in the South Indian film industry during the 90s, recently opened up about her choice to avoid bold scenes and glamorous roles in her career. Despite delivering numerous superhits, she revealed in a recent interview the reasons behind her decision.

Meena, also known as Meena Sagar, began her journey in the film industry as a child artist in the 1982 film Nenjangal, starring alongside Sivaji Ganesan. She continued to showcase her talent and versatility, working with acclaimed actors like Superstar Rajinikanth in films such as Enkeyo Ketta Kural and Anbulla Rajinikanth.

As a lead actress, Meena achieved success with hits like Navayugam, En Rasavin Manasile, Santhwanam, Rajeswari Kalyanam, Chanti, Veera, Muthu, and more. Despite her flourishing career, Meena addressed the persistent inquiries about her avoidance of glamorous roles. According to reports, Prabhu Deva had advised her to explore bolder and more glamorous projects, but Meena confessed that she felt shy and apprehensive about such roles. She shared an instance when she couldn’t muster the courage to come out of the makeup room wearing a swimming dress, expressing her discomfort with the idea.

Meena’s recent venture, the Malayalam film Bro Daddy, directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran, featured an ensemble cast including Mohanlal, Prithviraj Sukumaran, Kalyani Priyadarshan, and others. Released on the OTT platform Disney+ Hotstar, the film garnered attention for its star-studded lineup and engaging storyline. Meena’s contribution to the film added to her diverse filmography.
