New Delhi: After Apple announced that it would launch the new iPhone SE in India early April, Redington and Beetel Teletech - Apple's distributors in India - in seperate press notes revealed the India launch date for the new iPhone.
The iPhone SE, which looks exactly like the older iPhone 5s, will go on sale in India from April 8.
Redington India says it will offer the phone starting from April 8 in 3,000 retail outlets across India, while Beetel Teletech plans to offer it at over 3,500 retail locations across the country.
While there is no word regarding pre-orders from Redington, Beetel Teletech has announced that pre-orders for the phone will open on March 29 at 12:01 AM.
Apple has already disclosed the price tag of the new iPhone for the Indian market. The iPhone SE will be priced at Rs 39,000 for 16 GB; there is, however, no information at what price the 64 GB model will be available in India. Beetel Teletech is expected to reveal the price of the 64 GB model by next week.
With the launch of the iPhone SE, Apple is going back to its popular 4-inch size. But it is yet to be seen how well does the new 4-inch phone go in attracting Indian consumers who are now in the habit of using larger-screen phones.
Apple is packing some new features into this smaller package. The new SE, for example, has the same four-inch screen as the iPhone 5S that Apple began selling in 2013. But the new phone has the company's latest A9 processor, a 12-megapixel camera and a secure chip that allows the use of Apple Pay, the company's digital payment service. Apple Pay was previously only available with iPhone 6 and 6S models.
