New Delhi: Dropbox has announced that it is shutting down its email management app Mailbox and photo management app Carousel.

The company announced in its blog that key features of Carousel will be incorporated back to the Dropbox app and official support for Mailbox will end on February 26, 2016 while Carousel will be fully shutdown on March 31, 2016.

Dropbox had acquired Mailbox in 2013 for a whopping $100 million while Carousel was launched in 2014 as a separate app to manage photos on Dropbox.

The company further wrote, "Increased focus will help us create even better experiences for you in the months and years to come," hinting at the current project called Dropbox Paper which is a collaborative work app similar to Google Docs.

The Mailbox app, launched in 2014, became so popular immediately after launch that it had a waitlist of users. However, Carousel app failed to garner such popularity. It was originally pitched as a camera roll replacement app that relied on Dropbox's cloud syncing technology.
