New Delhi: Google has finally introduced the new Chromecast streaming device and the Chromecast Audio in India at Rs 3,399. Both the new devices carry the same price tag and will be available from several marketplaces including Flipkart, Snapdeal, Paytm and retailers like Reliance and Croma.
The new Chromecast, which was unveiled to the world alongside the Chromecast Audio back in September last year, includes improved WiFi abilities.
"Chromecast turns any TV into a smart TV for a fraction of the cost. The new Chromecast has an updated design, making it easier to fit into TVs with crowded ports. It supports the latest WiFi standards and adapts to changing WiFi conditions in most homes, ensuring higher quality video with less buffering. In addition to movies, TV shows and music are available through apps including Netflix, Hooq, Eros Now and YouTube. Chromecast also offers a range of popular single and multi-player games including Angry Birds Go and Just Dance Now," said Google in a press note.
But the more interesting of the two devices is the Chromecast Audio, which plugs into speakers to stream radio, podcasts and music over WiFi.
It works with a number of apps including Saavn and Wynk Music. The multi-room feature makes it possible to connect multiple speakers throughout a living space.
Because the Chromecast Audio doesn't use Bluetooth and instead relies on WiFi, range wouldn't be an issue.
The Chromecast Audio functions quite like the regular Chromecast and has cross-platform support - Android, iOS, laptops.
Google has also updated the Chromecast app to make it easier to search for content across the thousands of apps that work with Chromecast.
