Qualcomm has announced Snapdragon 850 chipset, built for Windows 10 PC, at the ongoing Computex 2018 being held in Taipei. The latest platform by Qualcomm has been made in a collaboration with Samsung for Always On, Always Connected PCs. The Snapdragon 850 comes with Snapdragon X20 LTE model as well as Qualcomm AI Engine to empower AI operations on the chipset. The new Mobile Compute platform is the successor to the 10nm Snapdragon 835 SoC.
Qualcomm claims a 30 percent increase in the performance and graphics of the Snapdragon 850 over the Snapdragon 835 despite being on the same 10nm process, because of the new 2.95GHz Kryo 385 CPU and Adreno 630 GPU. A 20 percent gain in Gigabit LTE speeds and the battery life of the device is also being promised on the Snapdragon 850. More enhancements on the Snapdragon 850 include Qualcomm AI Engine for 3X better AI performance and Qualcomm X20 LTE modem for global Gigabit LTE support.

As per Qualcomm, Snapdragon 850 also comes with built-in high-fidelity audio support, thanks to Qualcomm Aqstic as well as aptX audio features. The Snapdragon 850 also claims to deliver native DSD format, virtual surround sound, high dynamic range and 4k video recordings. It will support Microsoft's Machine Learning SDK to help developers create more AI features for the SoC. Qualcomm is expected to make an announcement about the availability of the SoC soon.
