Anupamaa Fame Chandni Bhagwanani Claims She Received Death Threats: 'I Was Unable To Handle It'
Chandni further revealed that more than half of the comments on her social media posts were trolls.

Actress Chandni Bhagwanani, who recently appeared in the role of Pakhi in Anupamaa, has been a part of many successful TV shows. She started her television career as a child artist and went on to work in shows such as Roop, Kohi Apna Sa and Amrita Ka Amrit among others. Recently, in an interview, the actress opened up on how she was subjected to body shaming and brutal trolling during her stint in Sanjivani. The actress also claimed she received death threats. Chandni played the negative role of Dr Asha Kanwar in the 2019 show Sanjivani.

In an interview with Times Now, Chandni Bhagwanani shared, “I was body shamed; there were comments about my personal character, like what kind of girl I am. My parents used to get messages, and I also received death threats. So, I couldn’t process it. I thought that I would get into depression because I was unable to handle it.”

She added that more than half of the comments on her social media posts came from trolls. This provoked her to go on Instagram Live and bash viewers.

Chandni said, “Aap socho agar apke photo pe 10 comments hai jispe se 4 comment apki body pe hai, 2 comments apke character pe hai.” (Your photo has 10 comments and 4 of them are on your body, 2 on your character). It felt like somebody was saying that to my face. So, I could not handle it.”

Meanwhile, Chandni left Anupamaa after the show took a 15-year leap. In another interview with Times Now, she mentioned that it was time for her to move as she wouldn’t suit the character anymore. After the leap, Chandni had to portray the mother of a 22-year-old girl, and was concerned that she was too young for the role.

Sharing how the makers reacted to her decision, Chandni said, “The makers didn’t even force me to do that. They were kind enough to understand that I wouldn’t look like a 22-year-old girl’s mother. I have always been told that I look chotu (small). So, this was like the most obvious choice.”
