The Juvenile Justice Board (JJB) in Pune granted bail to a 17-year-old just hours after his speeding Porsche collided with a bike, resulting in the tragic deaths of two people. According to reports, the board instructed the minor, Vedant Agarwal, to assist traffic police for 15 days and pen a 300-word essay on road accidents as his bail conditions. This decision has ignited widespread outrage, with many arguing that such lenient measures fail to deliver proper justice, especially considering the loss of two lives and the fact that the teen was driving illegally.
“Please font reduce court of law to a mere joke,” one user commented. Another added, “Is Indian judiciary system a joke? A 17-year-old named Vedant Agarwal drove his father’s Porsche while intoxicated, colliding with a two-wheeler and tragically killing two people. Incredibly, the Court granted him bail within a day, requiring only that he write an essay on the accident. Power and wealth dominate the system, leaving ordinary people powerless.”

Critics even argued that such a light punishment might encourage more reckless behavior, as it sends a message that there are no serious consequences.
“I’m ready to come back to India and surrender if the courts assure me of bail under similar stringent conditions as they did for that Pune guy. I’m willing to work with SBI for 15 days to learn about bank operations and write a 300-word essay on how to repay the loan.” pic.twitter.com/6BnUQA0RAP— THE SKIN DOCTOR (@theskindoctor13) May 21, 2024
