From TV sets to comforting beds, air conditioners, ironing boards and kettles, hotel rooms are equipped with several amenities to make the guests’ stay pleasant and convenient. Do you know the hotel bed sheets and comforters are not washed on a regular basis? Yes, you heard it right. Recently, one such bizarre news regarding hotel bed sheets and blankets went viral. On the social media platform Reddit, a person started a discussion about hotel bed sheets. He inquired whether it is true that the comforters on the hotel bed are not washed, and hence one should avoid sleeping on them. Comforter refers to a blanket-like sheet that people sleep on.

Seeing the post, many people commented and shared shocking things related to hotels. The most shocking thing told by one person who himself works in a hotel is that there, the bedsheets are not washed after every guest leaves. They are spread again in the same manner.

One person said that he used to work at a place where he was asked to wash only the bedsheet and pillow covers after the guest left; the comforters were only washed once a month, when the rooms were thoroughly cleaned. Otherwise, the comforters are used by guests repeatedly.

Another person commented that he had worked in a hotel for a year, but he never saw the hotel comforter being washed. Because of this, whenever he goes to stay in a hotel, he first removes the comforter and keeps it in the cupboard.

One person said that this is why one should never keep their luggage on the bed because the germs of the sheet or blanket can get on the luggage, which will reach their home and make them fall sick.
