Tractors are used as the means to plough a field. If you come across this viral video on social media, you will discover that some other means of transportation can also be utilised to plough a field. The now viral video was posted on Instagram. It captures a man using a motorcycle to demonstrate how to use it as a tiling machine. The clip starts with a man on a motorcycle, which is installed with a ploughing instrument attached to its back wheel. As he is driving the vehicle, he lowers the plough with the help of a handle to its left. It then smoothly digs into the ground, in lines of messy mud. The caption on the post says, “Check out this DIY motorcycle tilling machine designed to break up hard, compact soil into loose, broken-up dirt that can then be used for planting.”
Netizens are reacting to the video in the comment section. The first user commented how bikes are not made to function like this, saying, “Bike engines are not made for this kind of work.” Another user observed, “Khet me nahi chalega tyre sleep hoga (It will not work in a field, the tyre will sleep).” While a third netizen shared, “There is a reason we use tractor for this.” And a fourth user wrote, “How will the rubber tyres survive the jungle.” The video has been liked more than 98,000 times and over 7.6 million likes on the platform so far.
Last year in July, a man from Karnataka went viral for a similar situation, where he used his old bicycle as a weed remover. Shivraj, the farmer got a hold of a bicycle which was to be scrapped. He then modified the two-wheeler and converted it into a weed removing machine. According to him, this was a cheaper and efficient way for weed removal, otherwise, to hire a bullock cart costs Rs 3,500 a day.
