Mumbai was brought to a standstill on Wednesday as torrential rains wreaked havoc across the city. The heavy rains claimed four lives, inundated low-lying areas, and brought local train services to a complete halt. Several flights were also diverted due to the inclement weather. Amid this, a Zomato delivery partner braved the incessant rainfall and delivered orders on foot after his bike broke down.
Rahat Ali Khan, who was hit by both heavy rainfall and a broken bike, delivered two orders on foot. One of the customers, who uses the handle “@mittal.swati” on Instagram’s Threads, expressed gratitude towards Khan and reflected on her privilege in a heartfelt post.

“We ordered food and Rahat’s bike broke down and that man walked to two different locations and finished his delivery in this heavy rain all drenched!” Mittal wrote on Threads.
She urged people to support delivery partners, especially those who risk their safety in such adverse conditions, adding: “We should really support delivery staff who are on the streets in heavy rains making our lives convenient.”
“It’s a privilege! Thank you, Rahat!” she further expressed.
Mittal also shared a screenshot from her Zomato order, showing that despite the challenges, her meal from Golia Butter Chicken was delayed by just seven minutes. The app displayed a note acknowledging the conditions: “It’s raining at the restaurant, your delivery partner may drive slower than usual.”

Mittal, in the comments section, stated that she tipped Khan for her food order: “…I tipped him well. But ya I don’t advertise what I do on social media. I rather thank people who do something for me than show how great I am as a human being for being a normal human being. Can’t attach a price tag or a number to his effort.”

An Internet user said, “Support them by not ordering on the app during heavy rains,” while a another expressed, “I’d think 10 times before ordering something in such torrential rains.”
“The Internet needs more people like you Swati who take the time and share incidents like these on social media. This is so much more refreshing than seeing, ‘where’s my food?’, ‘where’s my refund?’ type posts! Keep going, keep growing,” yet another Threads user praised Mittal.
A fourth posted, “This is so heartwarming. We need more people like you and him!“
