The Mud House

The vlogger, feeling parched during her exploration, sought water from a family in a traditional mud house in the village. “I was taken aback as soon as I entered,” she remarked in her video post. Initially anticipating a single-room dwelling typical of rural homes, she was surprised to discover that the mud house was actually two-storey high. Fighting through a doorway smaller than her stature, she entered to find spacious rooms and a staircase leading to the top floor.

Despite the scorching 47 degree Celsius heat outside, the interior of the mud house maintained a comfortable 20 to 25 degrees— a testament to the natural insulation properties of mud construction.

Video Goes Viral Online

The video posted by the influencer soon went viral and garnered significant attention online with as many as 53 lakh views. Many viewers even left their feedback in comments, expressing admiration for the ingenuity and simplicity of rural architecture. One user said that the house was very beautiful while another drew a comparison between mud houses and concrete structures, noting that while mud houses can endure for up to 200 years, concrete houses typically have a lifespan of 30-40 years.

Echoing this sentiment, another viewer shared that similar two-storey mud houses can be found in their own village, illustrating the widespread presence of such traditional dwellings across rural India.

As cities expand and modernity spreads, encounters like this serve as a poignant reminder of the enduring allure and warmth of rural life in India.
