Hyderabad is a city known for its scrumptious kebabs, haleem, and biryani. People from all over the world visit the city to try its authentic cuisine. From Irani chai to the flavorful nihari, Hyderabad has food joints in every nook and corner. Some of the popular shops in the city include the Karachi Bakery, Shadab Biryani, Bilal Ice Cream, and more. Recently, many of these restaurants and bakeries have come under fire after the Commissioner of Food Safety inspected these eateries.
The Commissioner of Food Safety for Telangana recently discovered that many popular eateries and food stores in Hyderabad were violating the food safety laws by selling expired rusks, biscuits, and candies with improper labelling on them. Some of the renowned eateries that were inspected include Karachi Bakery and Bilal Ice Cream. The officials found issues with the items that these outlets were selling to people. The inspection found fake bottles, expired stock of biscuits, rusks, cakes, etc. The Commissioner of Food Safety for Telangana shared the entire report on the microblogging platform X (formerly Twitter). They wrote, “Task force has conducted inspections at Moazzam Jahi Market area recently. Bilal Ice Cream- the outlet and their manufacturing unit have been found operating without any valid license/registration, fake brand water bottles found, notice has been issued and action will be taken.”
The commissioner also inspected the Karachi Bakery, and wrote, “Expired stocks of rusks, biscuits, candy, chocolate cakes, toasts, and buns worth Rs 5,200 were discarded. Use by dates not displayed on pastries and cakes, thereby violating the FSSAI regulations. Multiple unlabelled products were found to be violating the FSSAI Act.”
Once the post was uploaded, many frequent visitors went to the comment section and expressed their views. One of the users wrote, “It’s great to see someone taking action. Appreciating the efforts of government.” Another user commented, “There are many food outlets from madina to chandrayangutta, sir, kindly inspect and seize them.”
