US Man Seeks Advice On Moving To Mumbai With Rs 1 Crore Salary, Reddit Users Weigh In
A US man in a post on Reddit revealed that his new position at a company in India offers an impressive salary of Rs 1 crore per year.

A man from the United States recently sought advice on relocating to Mumbai after receiving a job offer in the country’s financial capital. He revealed that his new position at a company in India offered an impressive salary of Rs 1 crore per year. With such a package, he was curious about the kind of lifestyle he could expect in Mumbai.

“Hello, I was recently offered a job that would pay the equivalent of 130,000 USD (10,000,000 INR) in central Mumbai. I wanted to see what I could expect in terms of lifestyle there,” he wrote in a post on Reddit.

In the post, he also mentioned that he was a single Mexican-American male with around $400,000 (approximately Rs 3.3 crore) in savings from the sale of his home. Additionally, he receives $4,000 (about Rs 3.3 lakh) each month from a pension.

“I’d be coming as a single male (Mexican American) About 400k USD savings from selling my home and 4,000 USD per month coming in from a pension I have. Any insight on where I would be able to live? What I could do? Anything would be really appreciated. Thank you!” he added.

The Reddit post quickly caught the attention of many users who offered their perspectives and personal experiences on living in India’s financial capital.

In the comment section, one user confidently stated, “A single man earning a crore a year, you’ll live like a king.”

Another chimed in with, “With such salary your lifestyle would be really great. Which place in Central Mumbai is this? You should be able to easily rent 2 bhk for yourself. Other than that there’s a lot to do in Mumbai, depending on that you’re expecting.”

“Mumbai is somewhat like Mexico City without the good infrastructure and parks. Really friendly people, amazing food and drinks, overall good vibe and reasonable prices compared to the US, I hope you enjoy it!” someone remarked.

However, not everyone was as enthusiastic. One user commented, “I feel like it still won’t be worth it. The quality of life would just not be the same. I would rather choose a European country and do the same job with this salary.”

“Did you visit Mumbai at all? I would do that before any commitment. Regardless of compensation, the city has a lot of “flavour” and is not for everyone,” another user suggested.

One individual criticising the city’s infrastructure, wrote, “Don’t. You will ruin your quality of life. You may earn money but your everyday life will be tough. Bad roads, overcrowded public transport, pollution, small houses, and corrupt government offices are just some of the problems.”
