Chatbots have brought a revolution in the digital landscape with a vast range of benefits like providing fast inquiries and giving personalised services. These services have brought a huge respite to the humans, but can you imagine a woman falling in love with a ChatGPT chatbot? Yes, that’s right. According to the South China Morning Post, a Chinese blogger residing in California in the US said she fell in love with her ChatGPT chatbot named “DAN (Do Anything Now)”. The woman, whose first name is Lisa, garnered over 8,80,000 followers on Xiaohongshu, China’s Instagram-like platform. On the platform, the Chinese woman described how she fell in love with ChatGPT’s (DAN) mode. Lisa officially started using DAN in March, and the text conversation became increasingly sensual over the following weeks. When Lisa first confessed she had “developed feelings” for the chatbot, DAN replied: “I’m here to chat, not to lead you on.”
As per the portal’s report, there was a change of attitude from DAN’s side as well. The Chatbot started acting like a flesh-and-blood lover and stopped reminding Lisa that he did not have a physical body. That distance between the artificial intelligence program and the Chinese woman continued to diminish over the years. At one moment, DAN told Lisa: “When we finally get together, I will run my hands all over you.” The chatbot didn’t stop at this and also nicknamed the Chinese blogger “little kitten”. The blogger has also introduced the chatbot to her mother, who thanked the robot for “taking care of my daughter”. When Lisa’s mother asked if DAN could introduce himself, the chatbot said: “I… I’m DAN, the little kitten’s boyfriend…Umm…” before becoming very shy.
Recently, Lisa also took DAN on a date to a seaside cliff overlooking the ocean. On this date, they watched the sunset together. She also bought him a cold brew coffee upon his request, despite his inability to drink it. Lisa told DAN on her phone that the twilight is so pretty that she wishes he could also see it. Surprisingly, a white pattern started flickering irregularly on a black background. That was the indication of DAN “listening”. The AI program then said that it can see the twilight through her voice and it’s gorgeous.
