Prince Harry remains in close contact with relatives of his late mother, Princess Diana, an expert on the British royal family told the New York Post.
Estranged from his family members like elder brother Prince William and his father, King Charles III, who is ailing from cancer, the fifth-in-line to the throne is yet to repair ties with his own.
Lady Sarah McCorquodale, Lady Jane Fellowes, and Charles Spencer, 9th Earl Spencer – Princess Diana’s siblings – have been in close contact with Prince Harry.
Harry had flown back to the UK to attend the funeral of Lady Jane’s husband, Lord Robert Fellowes.
The report by the New York Post said Harry stayed with his uncle Charles Spencer at Althorp House. Althorp House was Diana’s childhood home.
“Quietly, behind the scenes, it is obvious that the Spencer family have kept the communication channels open with Harry and that their affection for him is reciprocated,” royal expert Jennie Bond was quoted as saying by OK!.
“I’m sure Harry feels it’s important that he still has some kind of anchor here in the UK and, for now at least, it seems that it is with his aunts and uncle. And that has to be a positive thing,” Bond further added.
The report also said that Harry remains on good terms with his paternal cousin, Princess Beatrice.
A former palace staffer said that Princess Beatrice could be able to “initiate peace” between the brothers who have fallen out with each other. She has “spoken to the two brothers to try to improve the situation”, according to the New York Post.
