Sydney: After a 41-year-old Indian woman was brutally stabbed to death in Australia, the Ministry of External Affairs(MEA) has told CNN-IBN that the consulate in Sydney is in touch with the employers and providing all necessary assistance.

"There are a lot of Indian living in Australia and there have been stray cases but there's no link between any cases in the recent past. The consulate is in touch with the local authorities and the police are working on this," MEA spokesperson Syed Akbaruddin said.

Prabha Arun Kumar was on the phone to a member of her family when the "horrific" attack happened on Saturday in Westmead, a suburb in Sydney. She was found by a man lying in a large pool of blood.

Kumar told the relative, "I think I've been stabbed" in the lane way that runs through the park close to her Westmead home. The mother of one was found stabbed in Parramatta Park last night. The police described it as a "horrific attack."

Prabha Arun's employer MindTree has also issued a statement in the wake of this tragedy. "Our prayers are with the family of the deceased. We are working with the officials of both the countries to help the family to bring the body back to India. We are providing all the necessary support to authorities investigating the case."
