Hyundai Motor India Ltd. (HMIL) has achieved its highest-ever domestic sales, breaking the six lakh sales barrier in the calendar year 2023.
The company zoomed past the achievement with a whopping 9 percent increase, selling 6,02,111 units compared to the previous year’s 5,52,511 units.
On top of that, HMIL lifted its exports by 10 percent, shipping out 1,63,675 units compared to the prior year’s 1,48,300 units. December 2023 alone saw HMIL clocking total sales of 56,450 units, split between 42,750 units sold domestically and 13,700 units exported.
Mr. Tarun Garg, the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of HMIL, expressed his excitement, stating, “In the momentous year of 2023, Hyundai Motor India witnessed a watershed moment by achieving its highest-ever domestic sales of 6,02,111 units, achieving a respectable 9% growth over LY sales volume. HMIL has not just kept pace but surpassed industry growth (estimated at around 8.2%), a testament to customers choosing brand Hyundai as their preferred mobility brand. Also in 2023, we proactively expanded our annual production capacity by 50,000 units to meet the increasing demand from our customers.”
He emphasized the company’s commitment to safety, highlighting that HMIL is the first mass automobile brand in India to standardize six airbags across all models and trims. Additionally, Garg mentioned Hyundai’s achievement of a 5-star rating for the Hyundai VERNA from GNCAP.
Garg also highlighted the success of the recently launched Hyundai EXTER, surpassing 1 lakh bookings and receiving praise from both customers and critics. He concluded by affirming HMIL’s commitment to India, promising to bring forth products and technologies aligned with customers’ aspirations while supporting initiatives like ‘Samarth’ for differently-abled individuals.
