Greater Noida: The first unveiling at the Auto Expo 2016 is the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza. The model will compete with the likes of Ford EcoSport, Mahindra TUV300, besides being pitched against Renault Duster and Hyundai Creta which are priced in the range of Rs 6.79 lakh to Rs 13.77 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
This compact urban SUV has been conceptualised, designed and developed in India using a Suzuki global platform and engine. Maruti Suzuki had showcased the concept of the compact SUV as XA Alpha in the 2012 Auto Expo.
In terms of looks, the Maruti Vitara Brezza takes on the appearance of the Grand Vitara with a floating roof theme and sports 16-inch alloy wheels on the ZDi+ trim.
Maruti Suzuki is banking upon high personalisation options in the Vitara Brezza. The company is offering theme based options along with dual-colour scheme and floating roof feel.
The Vitara Brezza is powered by a 200 DDis engine with five-speed manual transmission.
The driver aribag comes as a standard feature in the compact SUV. Maruti Suzuki says that the car meets ofset and side impact crash tests that will come into firsce in India from 2017.
Vitara Brezza is the second of the 15 new models that MSI will launch in the next five years as it aims to sell two million units annually by 2020.
The first two days of the 2016 Auto Expo is open to media and business visitors and will be opened for public during February 5-9.
Over 80 new products will be launched at the expo and an estimated seven lakh visitors are expected.
