MG Motor has raised the price of its best-selling Sport Utility Vehicles (SUVs) in India, the Hector and Hector Plus, yet again.
The most recent raise comes only three months after the prior one, which took effect in August, this year. This is the third time in a year that the Chinese-owned British carmaker has raised the price of the SUV, which competes with the Kia Seltos, Hyundai Creta, and Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, among others. Meanwhile, the Hector and Hector Plus SUVs have had their prices raised by up to Rs 40,000.
MG Motor unveiled the 2023 Hector at the January Auto Expo with a starting price of Rs 14.73 lakh (ex-showroom). The Hector SUV, which is available in both petrol and diesel engines, is available in six trim levels: Style, Shine, Smart, Smart Pro, Sharp Pro, and Savvy Pro. Following the recent price rise, the Hector SUV will be available for Rs 15 lakh, with the top-end Savvy Pro variant priced at Rs 22 lakh (ex-showroom).
Regarding the Hector Plus SUV, it was launched for Rs 20.80 lakh (ex-showroom). There are two different seating arrangements available for the MG Hector Plus SUV: six and seven seats. The starting price of the six-seater SUV is currently Rs 20.45 lakh (ex-showroom), with the top-end variant costing Rs 22.73 lakh (ex-showroom). Additionally, the updated pricing for the seven-seat model stays the same.
The price of the Hector SUV’s petrol and diesel models has been raised in the most recent rise. While petrol models experienced price increases ranging from Rs 27,000 to Rs 35,000, diesel models saw price increases ranging from Rs 30,000 to Rs 40,000, as per Times of India. The most significant increase has been implemented on the Smart Pro with a diesel powertrain.

The 2023 MG Hector and Hector Plus were unveiled with a new front look. The SUV also received significant improvements, including a new 14-inch touchscreen infotainment system, the largest in its market, as well as Level 2 ADAS technology. Under the hood, MG Motor still uses the same 1.5-litre petrol, 1.5-litre hybrid petrol, and 2.0-litre diesel engines. The 6-speed manual and automatic gearboxes are available as transmission options.
