Say Goodbye To Train Pantry Food: IRCTC Partners With Zomato For On-Demand Meals
This feature allows users to purchase meals from their preferred restaurant or food chain and have it delivered to their seats while on a train. Cancellations are available 2 hours prior to delivery.

The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has teamed with an online food delivery platform to serve pre-ordered meals.

Now passengers will not be forced to eat pantry food, instead, they can directly buy food from various eateries using the IRCTC official service.

This allows users to purchase meals from their preferred restaurant or food chain and have it delivered to their seats while on a train.

If you are still unsure about how the entire process works, here are the details of this newly launched service.

How To Order Food On Zomato On A Train?

  • Open the Zomato app on your smartphone.
  • Search ‘Train’ in the search bar at the top.
  • It will prompt you to enter the PNR number. Enter it to proceed.
  • Following this, you will get a selection of available eateries.
  • Select the restaurant, choose the delivery station of your choice.
  • Place the order by making a payment.

While ordering, the passenger needs to keep in mind that they need to order food in advance. Zomato will also track the train status in real time and get the food delivered accordingly, as reported by TOI.

The Zomato train meal ordering and delivery services are only available to rail passengers with valid railway tickets and PNRs. To place an order on the Zomato platform, clients must have a valid PNR number.

If the customer’s PNR number is wrong, Zomato will not be held liable for any incomplete or unsuccessful deliveries. Furthermore, If the passenger disembarks from the train at a station before the designated station for delivery, Zomato will not be held liable for delivering the order at any other station or on any other train.

With regard to its cancellation policy, Zomato mentioned that orders cannot be cancelled within two hours of the train’s anticipated arrival time at the designated stop. Orders can only be cancelled up to two hours before the train’s scheduled arrival time at the designated stop. If an order is cancelled within the time range specified, a full refund of the order value will be issued.

Lastly, if the train’s scheduled arrival is delayed, Zomato will make an effort to deliver the order. However, delivery of the order is not assured. The platform will charge the customer a station convenience fee (excluding of taxes) to facilitate deliveries to the train’s seat or sleeper.
