The Netherlands cricketers featuring in ICC ODI World Cup 2023 will certainly relish the memory of their India tour for long. The same goes for Logan Van Beek, who has been a crucial component of the Dutch side this year. He has already picked 12 wickets in seven appearances in the tournament. Ahead of the Netherlands’ last game against England, Van Beek’s mother and wife touched down in India and the cricketer was there to welcome his family. In an effort to make their trip special, Van Been gave the “two most important women in his life” a grand welcome at the JW Marriot in Pune. The Dutch pacer shared glimpses of their arrival on Instagram.

The vibe was all desi in the hotel lobby, with Logan Van Beek wearing a traditional Indian outfit. He opted for the title track from Akshay Kumar-starrer Bollywood film ‘Welcome’ for the event. “The two most important women in my life have arrived in India. After a long time apart. So nice to reunite with loved ones – wife and mother. More supporters for Netherlands cricket going into our last two matches. Thank you JW Marriott Pune for helping me do the welcome,” Van Beek wrote in the caption of his Instagram post.
In the video, Van Beek could be heard showcasing his love for his mother and wife. According to the cricketer, he got to meet his family almost after three months as he was busy with his cricket assignments during that period. He arranged a couple of bouquets of beautiful flowers and a portable speaker for playing the ‘Welcome’ song.
It was no doubt a heartwarming scene when Van Beek’s wife Elitsa came out of a cab and shared a tight hug with his husband. The couple then shook their legs to the beats of the background song. Following that, the hotel staff felicitated Van Beek’s family members by presenting them the bouquets.
Van Beek’s wife and mother were present at the MCA Stadium in Pune where the Netherlands played their penultimate game of this World Cup against England on Wednesday. The Dutch bowling unit pulled off a promising start to the game, sending off five English batters in quick succession. However, England ultimately posted 329 runs on the board, thanks to a centurion knock from all-rounder Ben Stokes. Dawid Malan also made crucial contributions, scoring a quickfire 87 off 74 balls.
Coming to chase the mammoth target, the Netherlands looked helpless in front of England’s lethal bowling show. They were bundled out for 179 runs, with Teja Nidamanuru being the only batter from the unit to cross the 40-run mark. Following the defeat, the Netherlands now find themselves at the bottom of the points table with 4 points. They will face hosts India in the last game on November 12.
