Davos: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today interacted with top global CEOs at an International Business Council event, narrating the India growth story and the opportunities presented by the country for international players.
Besides a series of meetings with the world leaders and business chiefs after addressing the opening plenary of the World Economic Forum (WEF) here, Modi also interacted with the international business community of the Geneva-based organisation that hosts this summit every year here in Davos.
After the interaction, the Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson tweeted, "The world applauds 1.3 bn people of India at the WEF in Davos appreciating the remarkable transformation in improving the business climate."
He also tweeted a picture of the prime minister with the council members with the hashtag 'IndiaMeansBusiness', the official campaign of India here at Davos.
Modi separately held a meeting with Indian CEOs. DIPP Secretary Ramesh Abhishek said the prime minister interacted with CEOs of 64 top global companies on his first day in Davos.
Guests relished a traditional Indian thali with 17 delicacies prepared by top Indian chefs and Masterchef India winner Kirti Bhoutika, he added.
"CEOs from 17 countries representing 3.4 trillion USD of market capitalisation had a very productive interaction with the PM.
"15 CEOs shared their plans and suggestions. They appreciated the good progress made on structural reforms such as GST & continuous improvement in #eodb (ease of doing business)," he said in another tweet.
According to him, during the interaction with CEOs, the prime minister reiterated the government's firm commitment to the reform agenda and welcomed them to be a part of India's impressive growth story.
