BSE midcap index closed a marginal 0.10 per cent higher, though.
Mumbai: Indian equities markets moved south Thursday for the second consecutive day, with a key index shedding 1.59 per cent from its previous close.
The sensitive index (Sensex) of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), which opened at 9,559.03 points, lost 152.71 points or 1.59 per cent from its Wednesday close to end at 9,465.83 points (provisional).
The S&P CNX Nifty index of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) lost 1.23 per cent to close at 2,893.05 points.
However, the BSE midcap index closed a marginal 0.10 per cent higher as the BSE smallcap index gained 0.71 per cent over its previous close.
