Mumbai: Continuing its winning streak, BSE benchmark Sensex climbed to hit another intra-session high of 15,828.91 points in early trade on Tuesday, gaining more than 96 points on funds buying, triggered by global cues.
The Bombay Stock Exchange 30-share index, which gathered over 166 points in the previous session, added 96.78 points to hit new the intra-session high of 15,828.98 in the first five minutes of trading.
Similarly, the wide-based National Stock Exchange's index Nifty shot up by 28.55 points to 4,647.90, also a new high.
Besides, firming global markets, reports that Reliance Industries (RIL) planning to set up country's biggest greenfield fertiliser capacity also buoyed the trading sentiments and triggered widespread buying activity.
Reliance Industries stocks shot up by Rs 8.10 at Rs 1,919, extending support the Sensex. Other major gainers were Larsen and Toubro, BHEL, Grasim Industries, HDFC Ltd, Infosys Technologies and SBI.
