Over the years India has established itself as the leading producer of start-ups/ enterprises and in parallel a lucrative destination for various multinationals. But in parallel to the rising numbers, there have also been instances of businesses shutting down or getting affected at the operational front due to regulatory/ business or any other related hurdles. And with many of the Indian companies still relying heavily on the traditional form of employee communication, and in some cases no communication at all, they struggle to deal with the crisis situations.
The recent instances involving e-Commerce companies have been major examples of such struggles. But here let us focus on the companies that have been using the traditional form of employee communication that is mainly restricted to email updates, in-house magazines and newsletters, sporadic team meetings, casual meetings with ever busy top management etc. These channels/ tools of communications have lately been proved insignificant and lost their relevance. In-fact today, even the town hall meetings are conducted only during crisis situations.
Despite the fact that India has climbed up the ladder of IT revolution and is providing world class solution and services to global companies, it has failed to imply the same in its own ecosystem. Fine example of this is how BYOD and video conferencing, that have been accepted globally by various companies, are yet to gain momentum in this mobile driven economy. As a result, various industries in India are still facing a huge issue of rising attrition. It has become imperative for the companies to implement modern day solutions to address the growing communication gap within the companies.
One such solution that has helped various organizations in terms of productivity is Enterprise Social Network. The mobile driven social platform for enterprises and their employees helps these companies connect the missing dots and build a transparent yet strong information flowing channel that puts everyone at par- right from the lower level of the pyramid to the top level. This casual yet formal platform ensures that it provides right information to the right people at the right time with its contextual intelligence. Once there is a free flow of communication, the employees are well tuned to what has been happening in the organization- implying an increased sense of belongingness amongst employees, better productivity, discovery of hidden talent within the organizations and a workforce that actually works as a team rather than individual members.
With growing instances of unrest amongst employees and weak communications, it has become imperative for the organizations to implement technology solutions such as ESNs to address these challenges and sustain a workable environment.
