Tamil actor Chiyaan Vikram was last seen in the films Ponniyin Selvan 2 and Cobra. While the former was a big success, the latter failed to live up to the hype. Vikram is now looking forward to one of his most awaited releases, Thangalaan. Known for his dramatic transformations for any role, Vikram’s weight loss and tribal warrior appearance in the first look of the film has become a big talking point. However, amid the hype around Thangalaan, yet another movie that has been in production for a very long period finds mention.
Vikram’s Dhruva Natchathiram has been in production since 2017 and has seen a phase of development hell and undue delays over the last few years. It was supposed to be released in 2018 itself but due to undisclosed reasons got delayed. Other projects and the COVID-19 pandemic then became a hindrance to the film.
The film is complete and was supposed to finally release on November 24 but it has been postponed once again. The Spy thriller had financial and legal issues throughout its production period. Director Gautham Menon had to reschedule Dhruva Natchathiram last week when the cases caught up with him once more. In a statement released on November 28, Gautham Menon stated that they are still committed to the movie. He also mentioned that the movie was nearing completion and would soon be released.
Gautham Menon said in his statement, “We tried pushing mountains to make it happen when we declared the release date as November 24. If we claimed we weren’t disappointed that the date couldn’t be met, we would be lying. We want to reassure the viewers that we are still committed to the film with this note. We are making every effort to overcome these obstacles and release Dhruva Natchathiram in theatres for you.
Some reports suggest that the new release date for the film may be December 8. However, these may merely be speculations and nothing can be confirmed unless an official statement is made.
