Diwali is marked by the tradition of meeting your loved ones, buying new clothes, preparing sweets, indulging in various cuisines, lighting diyas and what not. Amid these customs, the foremost association with Diwali is often linked to the vibrant display of fireworks. People of all ages, from youngsters to elders, indulge in bursting a wide range of fireworks. To captivate consumers, innovative types of crackers are introduced annually. The same has been done at the Diwali firecrackers market organised by Amudhasurabi company in the Thattanchavadi region regulation sales hall, endorsed by the Puducherry Government.
This year, a variety of fireworks has been introduced to appeal to a wide audience, spanning from adults to children. Specifically designed to capture the interest of children, these include crackers with names like Motu Patlu, Corona, Popcorn, Sunflower Flower, Drone, Laser Show Collisoda, Mushroom, Magic Bus, Chat Chat, Grand Salaam and more, all available for sale.
Additionally, there are various options including the Grand Slam that bursts simultaneously for 15 minutes in a circular pattern. They also have four feet high wire firecrackers. Notably, there are special discounts on firecracker gift boxes, ranging from Rs 200 to Rs 5000.
Puducherry police recently cautioned the public about fraudulent activities related to online cracker sales during Deepavali. BC Keerthi, inspector of the Cyber Wing, issued a statement regarding this. It highlights that deceptive advertisements on online platforms, supposedly offering crackers from Sivakasi, have resulted in financial losses for around 13 individuals in Puducherry. It has been revealed that those who made payments later discovered that the advertisements were indeed fake.
Reportedly, individuals have made payments ranging from Rs 1,000 to Rs 2,000. Police inquiries indicate that these online offers are designed with the intention to deceive the public.
