Chennai: Hotelier Vikram Aggarwal, who is under investigation for his links with bookies betting on IPL matches, has sought more time from the Crime Branch and Criminal Investigation Department (CB-CID). Aggarwal was summoned for questioning in Chennai by the CB-CID on Wednesday.

On May 31, the Tamil Nadu Police had searched two hotels owned by Aggarwal. The hotelier owns two hotel properties – the 129-room Fortune Select Palms near Chennai and the 162-room Radisson Blu Hotel City Centre in Chennai.

While he had appeared before the Mumbai Police earlier in response to its summons, he did not show up before the CB-CID despite a summon issued to him. His application for anticipatory bail was dismissed on May 30 by the Madras High Court.

It is alleged that the hotelier, known as Victor in betting circles, has links with Bollywood actor Vindoo Dara Singh, who was arrested in Mumbai for his role in cricket betting.
