The Tamil film industry is gearing up to commemorate the centenary of a legendary artist through an event titled Kalaignar 100. The celebration will feature acclaimed stars, such as Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth. Notable personalities from Tamil, Malayalam, Telugu, Kannada, and Hindi film industries are anticipated to join in this celebration.
The centenary celebration for Dr Karanir M Karunanidhi is scheduled for Saturday, January 6. A statement has been issued outlining the key features of the Kalaignar 100 event. The event, coordinated by different film industry associations under the guidance of the Tamil Film Producers Association, will be hosted at the racecourse ground in Guindy, Chennai.
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin, Sports Minister Udayanidhi Stalin, and Tamil Development and News Promotion Minister MP Swaminathan are expected to attend the celebration.
Superstars Chiranjeevi, Venkatesh Daggubati, Mammootty, Mohanlal, and Sivarajkumar are expected to attend the event.
The six-hour festival will showcase diverse entertainment features, including various art performances, films narrated by the artist, and songs written by the artist. Additionally, innovative visual presentations and previously unpublished documentaries containing information about the artist will be presented on stage for the audience.
Drones from Delhi have been brought in for the festival. More than 50 well-known directors and over 20 dance masters are practising for the upcoming event’s big shows.
Pepsi employees, overseen by the Producers’ Association, are currently setting up seating for 20,000 attendees and installing more than 50 digital screens for the forthcoming grand event.
Initially set for December 24, 2023, the event was cancelled due to the Chennai floods caused by Cyclone Michaungh in December. Consequently, the event has been rescheduled to January 6, 2024, Saturday. In light of this change, the two legendary actors from the Tamil entertainment industry were personally re-invited.
Reports indicate that Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan, Ajith Kumar, and Thalapathy Vijay were invited in November and are expected to attend the Kalaignar 100 event.
