If the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) have struggled big time in the Indian Premier League (IPL), then one of the key reasons for their misery is their bowling. The disappointed fans now wish to see Virat Kohli rolling his arms over as they keep chanting ‘Kohli ko bowling do’ from the stands. It was the 2016 edition when he bowled the last time in the IPL. Eight years later, it seemed to be happening again on Sunday at the Eden Gardens as RCB squared off against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).
RCB vs KKR IPL 2024 Live
Donning the green jersey, Faf du Plessis and his boys took the field after the skipper decided to bowl first. Kohli, on the other hand, went straight to the umpire and handed his cap before marking his run-up. He even made a slit-throat gesture to Sunil Narine who was on his way to take the strike. The fans were almost convinced that Kohli shall open RCB’s attack for the first time in the IPL history as the franchise look to turn fortunes this season. But it turned it out to be a big joke!
Yes! Kohli donned a big smile on his face as he took his cap back from the umpire. It was just an act to mock the fans who were almost ready to witness a classic act on the field.

Earlier, RCB won the toss and opted to bowl first in a bid to bounce back to winning ways. Skipper Faf du Plessis said the likes of Mohammed Siraj, Cameron Green and Karn Sharma were back in the Playing XI; a total of 19 changes for them this season.
“This is probably a chasing ground, always has been. I’m a fan of batting first when it’s really hot, but the temperature did drop after an hour or so yesterday, unlike in Mumbai or Chennai where it stays very hot.
“The batting is so strong that a general score of 60-70 isn’t considered great during the batting PP. We know if we do a few things back, the momentum can be back and we do have the firepower,” said du Plessis.
