'Can't Speak or Fake Confidence Into the Group': RCB Skipper Faf du Plessis Reckons His Side Will 'Sleep Better' After Win vs SRH
Faf du Plessis suggested that the win was necessary for RCB to build in some confidence as they finally broke their six-game losing streak by beating SRH.

The Royal Challengers Bengaluru have finally broken their six-game losing streak as they beat the Sunrisers Hyderabad by 35 runs at the Rajiv Gandhi Stadium in Hyderabad.

Following the victory, RCB skipper, Faf du Plessis had talked about the game at the post-match presentation ceremony where he was well aware of the resilience the side had shown even in the past few games.

He said,” In the last two games, we’ve shown great signs of fight. In the previous game against SRH, it was 270 plus, we got 260. Against KKR as well we lost by 1 run. We’ve been close for a while, but you need to win matches to get confidence as a group”.

The former South African international reckons that confidence can only be brought into the side by winning and nothing else.

He added,” We will sleep easier tonight. You can’t speak confidence into the group, can’t fake confidence into the group. The only thing that gives confidence is the performance and the competition is so strong, the teams are so strong that you’ll get hurt if you’re not at 100 per cent”.

The skipper was also pleased with the fact that some of the other batters, namely, Rajat Patidar who scored a blistering 20-ball fifty along with Cameron Green who chipped in with 37 in 20 balls to help the side set a 200+ score.

“More of our guys scoring runs now. First half of the tournament only Virat was scoring runs. Green is scoring runs now it will be massive for him,” shared the RCB opening batter.

Interestingly, he was also frustrated by their home ground at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium where they have only won a single game. The dimensions of the ground along with the flat track, making it a batting paradise, something that their bowling attack has struggled to keep up with especially with the addition of the impact player rule.

“We know that Chinnaswamy, that’s been a big frustration for us. It’s a difficult ground to bowl at. We’ve tried to find a recipe for it, but it’s tough,” he concluded.

RCB will have their next big test as they take on Gujarat Titans in another away fixture at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
