The pacer bowled a clean spell of 6.4 overs, claiming his two wickets and conceding just 30 runs in the 2nd ODI against Bangladesh.

Dilshan Madushanka will not further take part in the ongoing tour after suffering an injury during the 2nd ODI against Bangladesh.

Madushanka, who left the field during the second ODI while bowling, has suffered a left hamstring injury, as confirmed by an MRI scan.

The pacer was in stellar form for Sri Lanka in their last match against Bangladesh.

Madushanka was pivotal in scalping the wickets of the Bangladesh top-order, claiming both Litton Das and skipper Shanto, whilst also being involved in the dismissal of Soumya Sarkar with a catch.

The pacer bowled a clean spell of 6.4 overs, claiming his two wickets and conceding just 30 runs.

At the end of the day, it was none other than Sri Lanka opener Pathum Nissanka who was the ultimate game-changer for his side’s victory in the bout.

Nissanka’s 114 in a national record 185-run stand for the fourth wicket with Charith Asalanka saved Sri Lanka from 43-3. Their partnership was key in overcoming Bangladesh’s 286-7 with 287-7 in 47.1 overs.

After a precarious start to Sri Lanka’s chase of 287 runs that led to them standing at 43-3 in the seventh over, it was Nissanka and Asalanka’s partnership that helped steady the ship and ultimately lead their side to victory.

Asalanka, who was in fine form himself, made a 93-ball 91 and just missed out on his fourth ton.

After bringing up his fifty off 58 balls, Nissanka paced the innings impeccably, while Asalanka was in an attacking mood. The pair perfectly complimented each other’s innings to set Sri Lanka up for success.

But, off-spinner Mehidy Hasan claimed Nissanka for 114 off 113 balls, and Taskin reviewed successfully to dismiss Asalanka for a 93-ball 91 including six fours and four sixes.

Sri Lanka was 52 runs from victory but Wanindu Hasaranga’s 25 off 16 dented Bangladesh’s hopes of clinching the series with one game to spare.

Hasaranga also claimed 4-45 to prevent Bangladesh from reaching 300 despite Hridoy’s brilliance.

The series-deciding third ODI is on Monday, followed by two tests.
