'Ek Audio Ne Mera Waat Laga Diya': Rohit Sharma Asks Cameraman to Switch Off Audio After Viral Video Raises Storm
Ahead of Mumbai Indians' last game of IPL 2024, Rohit Sharma was chatting with Dhawal Kulkarni when he turned to the cameraman to make a special request.

Mumbai Indians batting star Rohit Sharma was catching up with his former teammate Dhawal Kulkarni ahead of his IPL teams’ final match of the ongoing season wherein they were slated to face Lucknow Super Giants.

The conversation between the two was being recorded by the official broadcaster when Rohit spotted the cameraman and instantly, with folded hands, requested for him to not record the audio citing a viral video which had earlier gone viral raising question mark over his IPL future.

Bhai, audio band karo haan. Kasam se, ek audio ne mera waat laga diya (Please, switch off the audio. Last audio landed me in a lot of trouble),” Rohit said in the clip.

For the uninitiated, a clip of Rohit having a chat with Kolkata Knight Riders coach Abhishek Nayar was shared widely on social media without any context with users posting wild theories suggesting he might be on his way out of MI and joining KKR instead.

The impact of the clip was such that KKR CEO Venky Mysore himself had to clarify it was taken out of context.

“I didn’t even know about it, I think it’s just a storm in a teacup,” Mysore told Revsportz. “They (Rohit and Nayar) have been good friends since god knows how long and someone has done something there just to create some mischief. I talked to both of them, they were talking about something else. Some people just have too much time on their hands.”

MI had a forgettable IPL as they finished bottom of the points table having managed just four wins out of 14 matches. This is the second time in the last three seasons that the five-time IPL winners have finished last in the 10-team competition.

Rohit finished the season as MI’s top run-getter with 417 runs from 14 innings at a strike-rate of 150. However, the former MI captain isn’t happy with his performance.

“As a batter, I know I didn’t live up to the standard,” said Rohit on JioCinema. “But, after playing for all these years, I know that if I overthink, I won’t play well. All I try is to stay in a good mindset, in the right zone, keep practicing, and improve on all the flaws in my game. That’s all I kept doing. Our season didn’t go according to plan. We blame ourselves for this because we made too many mistakes during the season. We lost many games that we should have won, but that’s the nature of IPL. You get a few chances and when those chances come, you must grab them.”
