'Idhar Ayega Ek Fielder': Rishabh Pant Helps Bangladesh Captain with Field Set-up, Commentators in Splits | WATCH

A Test match could never be a dull affair if Rishabh Pant is in action, doesn’t matter where he is stationed. He is chirpiest while keeping wickets and when he comes to bat, he never misses out to gossip with the opponents. On Saturday, he was in the same jovial mood when he walked out to bat in India’s second innings in the ongoing Chennai Test against Bangladesh.

After scoring 39 in the first essay, Pant smashed his 12^th Test fifty on Day 3 and displayed all his trademark shots to leave the visitors frustrated. There was a moment when the Indian keeper-batter was seen helping Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shanto with their field placement.

Pant was seen asking one of his opponents to place a fielder on the onside. “Bhai idhar ayega ek. One fielder here,” asked Pant.

Surprisingly, the visiting captain made the adjustments as per Pant’s suggestion which left the commentators in splits.

Shubman Gill and Rishabh Pant cantered to fluent fifties as India reached 205 for three at lunch on day 3 as India extended their lead to 432 runs. They have so far added 138 runs for the unbroken fourth wicket.

Pant, playing his first Test after 2022, celebrated his re-entry with a fifty of his own after getting dismissed cheaply in the first innings. His dismantling of Miraz became a feature of the innings as he brought up his fifty off 88 balls.

The left-hander started rather sedately, perhaps wanting to get his eye in before opening up. The breakaway moment came when he pulled off-spinner Mehidy Hasan Miraz for a four around the first drinks break of the day. Once that fifty was achieved, the 26-year-old unfurled some of those typical Pant shots.

He was dropped on 72 by Najmul Hossain Shanto off Shakib Al Hasan as India added 124 runs in the session.
