IPL 2024 Points Table Update After DC vs SRH: Sunrisers Hyderabad Rise to 2nd Spot, Chennai Super Kings Slip to 4th
Travis Head led a dominant show with the bat as Sunrisers Hyderabad cruised to their fifth win of IPL 2024 which helped them climb up to the second spot on the points table.

Sunrisers Hyderabad batters continue to raze through bowlers with Delhi Capitals being their latest victim. On Saturday, SRH openers unleashed hell in the Powerplay laying the foundation for yet another 250-plus total in the ongoing IPL 2024.

Travis Head led the brutal assault with a whirlwind 32-ball 89, an innings featuring 11 fours and six sixes. Abhishek Sharma was in devastating touch too, clobbering two fours and six sixes in his 12-ball 46. Together the pair added 131 runs for the first wicket during which they broke the all-time T20 record for the highest score made in the Powerplay phase.

After a mini blip courtesy DC spinners Kuldeep Yadav and Axar Patel, SRH lower middle order took over the carnage with Shahbaz Ahmed slamming an unbeaten 57 off 29 while Nitish Reddy hitting 37 off 27. SRH finished with 266/7 in 20 overs.

DC lost their openers in the first two overs of the chase before Jason Fraser-McGurk counterpunched with a blistering innings of 65 off 18 (five fours, seven sixes) to give the home team some hope. Together with Abhishek Porel (42 off 22), he stitched a partnership of 84 runs for the third wicket but once the duo exited the stage, the wheels came off DC’s chase.

They eventually were bowled out for 199 in 19.1 overs with T Natarajan taking 4/19 from four overs.
