Mitchell Marsh, who is set to lead Australia in the T20 World Cup, looks to be enjoying his time in the Caribbean islands. The Aussie all-rounder was recently spotted having a casual chat with an interviewer at a beach in the West Indies. During the interaction, Marsh was asked if he had any “captain’s allowance” for alcohol.
The question shocked him a bit and he claimed to be unaware of such an allowance. The reason he said was Pat Cummins, Australia’s Test and ODI captain. “I didn’t realise captain’s allowance was an actual thing because I’ve never seen Patty’s. But I can say that is a thing and I will be spending it,” Marsh said.

Both Mitchell Marsh and the interviewer laughed at the hilarious answer from the Australia captain. “I don’t think he’s on his own Pat, not spending that too. Hearing from Tubby Taylor (Mark Taylor) and a few others,” the interviewer said. Marsh kind of agreed. “Yeah, there are a few tight captains over the journey,” Marsh said laughing.
The clip began with Mitchell Marsh being asked about the captain’s allowance and the perks it included. “You got the captain’s allowance, is that coming to the World Cup with you? And is that just strictly beer and wine or are you allowed spirits? Before Heady gets here of course,” the interviewer asked. Marsh had a hilarious response to the question saying, “Uh, whatever they want mate!”

Leading a team from the front is not a new task for Mitchell Marsh. The all-rounder earlier served as the captain of the Australian U-19 team and led them to World Cup glory in 2010. His current teammates Adam Zampa and Josh Hazlewood were also part of that squad. Marsh was first bestowed the leadership responsibility of the Australian T20I team in August last year for a tour of South Africa.
The upcoming T20 World Cup is the first major tournament for Marsh as the skipper of the Aussies. He has represented his country in 54 T20Is, accumulating 1432 runs and picking 17 wickets.

The Australians may have won the ODI World Cup a record six times but have been able to win the T20 version just once, in 2021. The Kangaroos are among the hot favourites this year, with a side packed with explosive stars.
