Bumrah finished with 15 wickets to his name and thanks to his consistent performances throughout the campaign, he was named player-of-the-tournament.
Australia legend Brett Lee feels that Bumrah is currently world’s best fast bowler across formats.
“In my opinion, Jasprit Bumrah is simply exceptional. He is the best bowler in all formats right now and leads the attack,” Lee was quoted as saying by news agency IANS. “Bumrah can keep up an amazing pace while shaping the new ball away. His tournament performance demonstrated his leadership abilities, taking about 15 wickets with remarkable economy. He is absolutely exceptional, and India is deserving of praise for their accomplishments.”
Lee point out how Indian T20I setup features players capable of batting at every position.
“Their batting order, which includes players who can dominate at every position from top to bottom, speaks volumes. Their middle-order is loaded with power and they have hitters who can put runs on the board quickly. ” said Lee.
Three of the world cup winners in Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja have announced their retirements from T20Is paving the way for the next generation to take over. The transition phase is already underway with a young T20I squad, led by Shubman Gill, currently touring Zimbabwe for a five-match series.
There are reports that Kohli and Rohit could also be rested from the tour of Sri Lanka that starts late in July during which India are scheduled to play three ODIs and as many T20Is.
