There were quite a few developments following the double-header Sunday which saw Mumbai Indians win their first game in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 whereas Lucknow Super Giants defeated the Gujarat Titans for the first time.

The afternoon game in Mumbai saw MI beating Delhi Capitals by 29 runs to gain their first points this season. A Romario Shepherd classic guided them to their third-highest score – 234/5 – in tournament history. In reply, Tristan Stubbs’s valiant 71 not out off 25 balls could only take DC to 205 for 8. However, Stubbs is now among the top-10 run-getters of the season with a total of 174 runs in 5 games and holds the 8th spot in the Orange Cap tally.

Later in Lucknow, LSG rode on Stoinis’ 58 off 43 balls and his 73-run stand off 62 balls with skipper KL Rahul (33 off 31) for the third wicket to score 163 for 5. Nicholas Pooran made 32 off 22 balls to give the LSG innings the final flourish. It was a torrid chase for GT with Thakur (5/30) and Krunal Pandya (3/11) sharing eight wickets between them, and they were bowled out for 130 in 18.5 overs.
