T20 World Cup 2024: Rishabh Pant Smashes Blazing 32-Ball 52 in India's Warm-up Match Against Bangladesh - WATCH
Rishabh Pant looked in good touch during India's warm-up game against Bangladesh as he smashed a 32-ball fifty in New York.

In India’s warm-up game against Bangladesh, Rishabh Pant managed to make a positive impact on his return to the Indian side as he managed to strike a quick half-century.

Pant had come in at number three for the side after the opener Sanju Samson was caught on the pads for an LBW. Coming in at 3, Pant started steadily but struck his first boundary in the fifth over against Mahedi Hasan towards mid-on.

He took on the experienced Shakib-al-Hasan, using the favourable match-up to his advantage by smashing three sixes in his second over. It did not take too long for Pant to utilise some of his unorthodox shots as he went for the reverse sweep which he might not have timed right but still cleared the boundary over the deep-backwards point.

Despite the dismissal of Rohit Sharma, Pant managed to get going and upped the scoring rate with consecutive boundaries against Soumya Sarkar.

His trademark one-handed swipe also came into the picture as he took on Mahmadullah and smacked him over long-on for the maximum.

Pant managed to bring up his fifty in style with a boundary against Shakib-al-Hasan to make 53 in 32 deliveries as he went back into the dugout to retire himself and give the rest of the batters some time out in the middle.

It will be a positive sign to see Pant striking the ball so well as the Indian team will need him to continue this form in the middle-order, assuming that the side would utilise him there.

India’s plans are yet to be cleared with the likes of Virat Kohli opening the innings or coming in at number 3 along with the rest of the batting order still a mystery.

The Men in Blue will get their T20 World Cup campaign going with their first game taking place at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium and their opponents being Ireland. The match will take place on June 5 at 8 PM IST.
