Having won their first two matches, Afghanistan and the West Indies currently occupy the top two places in Group C. If the Caribbean unit can overcome New Zealand, they will become the first team to reach the Super 8 stage from their group. The contest will take place at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Trinidad.
New Zealand faced a rare batting collapse in their T20 World Cup opener. Afghanistan batted first in Guyana and posted 156 runs.
New Zealand lost three wickets during the powerplay, with three top-order batters returning with a single-digit score. In the end, Afghanistan bowled out the Kiwis for 75 runs with Rashid Khan leading from the front with a four-wicket haul.
Meanwhile, the West Indies haven’t faced much trouble so far in this T20 World Cup. They beat Papua New Guinea by five wickets in the campaign opener before registering a dominant 134-run victory over Uganda.
