There is great news for people who have dreamt of studying at ISRO. The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) and Indian Institute of Remote Sensing (IIRS) have started inviting the application process for a five-day online course on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML). The course aims at equipping students with the basics of AI and ML. It is scheduled to start from August 19 till August 23, 2024.
Participants who are interested in enrolling can apply from: elearning.iirs.gov.in/edusatregistration. Registration approval is automatic and login credentials for the ISRO LMS will be issued upon successful registration. The online course is part of the IIRS Outreach Programme, which has significantly expanded since its inception in 2007.
Initially launched with 12 universities and institutions, the programme now includes over 3,500 network institutes, benefiting a wide range of participants, including academic institutions, government departments, research institutes, geospatial industries and NGOs.
This course is ideal for professionals looking to familiarize themselves with the knowledge of AI, ML, and Deep Learning (DL), especially in the context of geospatial applications. Students and researchers studying in disciplines like computer science, data analytics, geoinformatics, geomatics, and civil engineering will also find it to be of great relevance. Although the course is free of cost, the seats are limited. Registrations for this course will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.
The curriculum of this course provides a detailed exploration of AI, ML and DL concepts. It covers a wide range of topics, including introduction to AI/ML and DL, various machine learning methods such as supervised, unsupervised and reinforcement learning, and advanced deep learning techniques such as CNN, RNN, R-CNN, Faster RCNN, SSD and YOLO. Apart from this, the course includes practical applications through Google Earth Engine and Python programming to develop machine and deep learning models. All the study material, including lecturer slides, video recordings and handouts, will be available on the eClass platform, which will help the students to access the resources easily.
Participants who will complete the course with a 70 per cent attendance will be awarded a ‘Course Participation Certificate’. The certificate will be available on the ISRO Learning Management System LMS. Participants can download it from the ISRO LMS.
